Variable-frequency Steel Bar Cutting Machine

Variable-frequency Steel Bar Cutting Machine Core Functions and Advantages

1. Soft Start

Direct-on-line (DOL) starting draws 4–7 times the rated current, placing a severe shock on the power grid while simultaneously hammering the clutch, gearbox, crankshaft, and cutting blades. A VFD ramps the motor up smoothly, keeping starting current at or below the rated value. This dramatically reduces mechanical impact, minimizes blade chipping, and extends the service life of gears, bearings, and the clutch assembly.

2. Speed Regulation (Constant Torque)

Cutting speed is adjusted by varying the output frequency:

  • Low frequency 25–40 Hz: For large-diameter and HRB500 high-strength rebar — the cutting stroke slows down while output torque remains stable and ample.

  • 50 Hz: Motor rated speed (standard).

  • 50–60 Hz: Slight speed increase for processing small-diameter plain round bars, boosting throughput.

Note: Do not over-speed beyond this range — the clutch structure has a limited tolerance for impact forces.

3. Comprehensive Protection

Built-in protection against overcurrent, overload, phase loss, overvoltage, undervoltage, and overheating. If material jams or hard rebar locks the blade, the VFD trips and stops the machine promptly — preventing motor burnout and crankshaft fracture.

4. Adapts to Unstable Site Power

Construction sites frequently experience large voltage fluctuations. The VFD delivers a stabilized output to the motor, making it well suited to sites with insufficient supply capacity or weak voltage.

5. Lower Noise, Reduced Wear

Gentle acceleration and deceleration reduce the impact noise from the clutch; shock wear on transmission components is lowered, extending maintenance intervals.
